At Sapperton, our intent for science is rooted in our vision to nurture faith; to inspire success. We believe every child is a curious scientist, and we aim to nurture that curiosity from the very beginning of their learning journey in EYFS through to the end of KS2. Through a broad, engaging, and inclusive science curriculum, we provide pupils with meaningful, hands-on experiences that develop their understanding of the natural world. Our rural setting offers rich opportunities for outdoor learning, allowing children to explore life processes, seasonal changes, habitats, and materials in real-life contexts that deepen their scientific thinking and love for discovery.
We are committed to developing children’s ability to question, observe, investigate, and draw conclusions, fostering confidence and resilience through practical activities. By taking science beyond the classroom, we aim to make learning relevant and inspiring—using our grounds, woodlands, and local environment to bring scientific concepts to life. Our approach supports children’s spiritual, moral, and social development, encouraging respect for the world around them and a sense of responsibility for its future. In doing so, we prepare our children not just to succeed academically, but to carry their curiosity, care, and critical thinking into every aspect of their lives.
