Our intent for Design and Technology is shaped by our vision to nurture faith; to inspire success. We believe that through purposeful, hands-on learning, children can develop creativity, resilience, and problem-solving skills that prepare them for life beyond the classroom. From EYFS through to KS2, we provide meaningful opportunities for pupils to design, make, and evaluate products that solve real-life problems, using a range of materials and tools. Our natural environment is an integral part of our curriculum—children are encouraged to explore, gather, and use natural resources in their designs, fostering respect for creation and an understanding of sustainability.
Through our DT curriculum, we nurture pupils’ curiosity and ability to think critically and work practically. Whether building bird feeders in our outdoor space, creating healthy recipes using locally grown ingredients, or experimenting with structures inspired by nature, pupils develop key skills in construction, cooking, and textiles. These projects are rooted in collaboration, perseverance, and reflection, helping children grow in confidence and independence. By linking creativity and practical learning, we aim to inspire success and a lasting sense of achievement in every child.
