This week, Elder Class has been diving into an exciting combination of science, history, and creativity!
In Science, we explored the fascinating invention of periscopes. We learnt about why they were invented, how they work using mirrors and light reflection, and their important role during World War I. The children discovered how soldiers used periscopes in the trenches to see above ground safely, without putting themselves in danger.
To bring our learning to life, we transformed our classroom into a series of “trenches”! The children had great fun practising how to use mirrors to change the direction of light, helping them understand the science behind periscopes. They then applied this knowledge to design and create their very own working periscopes—fantastic teamwork and problem-solving all around.
In Art, our ‘Making Memories’ sculptures are coming along beautifully. The class has shown wonderful creativity and care in their designs, and we are looking forward to seeing the finished pieces, which are due to be completed next week.
