History

Our history curriculum is designed to inspire children’s curiosity about the past and equip them with the knowledge and skills to think critically, weigh evidence, and develop perspective and judgement. Aligned with the English National Curriculum, pupils learn about key events, significant individuals, and the development of societies both locally and globally. By building chronological understanding and engaging in historical enquiry, children develop a secure sense of identity and an appreciation of continuity and change over time.

Embedded within our teaching are the values of love, honour, and trust. Pupils learn to show love by respecting different viewpoints, to honour the experiences of those who came before, and to trust in their ability to ask thoughtful questions and form reasoned conclusions. In line with our vision to nurture faith; inspire success, our history curriculum enables children to reflect on the lessons of the past and apply them to their lives, inspiring them to act with courage, compassion, and curiosity. Through stories of the past, we encourage pupils to develop empathy, respect, and appreciation for different cultures and communities. By engaging with history in this way, children are inspired to succeed not only academically but also as thoughtful, compassionate individuals who contribute positively to their community.
