We are the oldest children in our lovely school and we take pride in being role models for the younger pupils. Elder Class is taught by Mrs Crampton and Miss Preece.
In Elder Class, we dive deep into all of the subjects. We use ICT to support our learning and get the opportunity to explore many experiences outside of our classroom environment; preparing us for the next steps in our journey into Secondary Schools. We also get to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and flourish from learning inside our classroom and outside in our special outdoor areas.
Children thrive from having responsibilities throughout the week. Some examples of this are that the year 6s help with Worships everyday and Elder Class buddy up for reading with Maple Class. Elder Class also have the opportunity to take part in our Young Enterprise Competition in the summer and enjoy a few days away on Residential too. Our year 6s have opportunities to celebrate their time at Sapperton with lunch at a local pub and Leavers’ Services at Gloucester Cathedral and more locally at St Kenelm’s Church.
A highlight of the year is the summer production that Elder leads in, immersing ourselves in musical theatre. There are numerous sporting events that our class compete in and we have a great record of being successful at them too!
