Elder Class Take Part in a Thoughtful Silent Discussion in RE

6 February 2026

This week in RE, Elder Class enjoyed a calm and reflective lesson while learning about “What texts might different Jewish people see as important?”

As part of their learning, the children took part in a silent discussion. A silent discussion is a special type of group discussion where pupils share their ideas in writing rather than speaking. Questions and images are placed on the tables, and children respond by writing their thoughts, questions, or comments on paper. They can also read and respond to what others have written – all without using their voices!

This approach encouraged everyone to think carefully, listen respectfully through reading, and take time to reflect before responding. The children showed excellent focus and curiosity as they explored important Jewish texts, such as the Torah, and considered how different Jewish people may value and use these texts in their lives.

Elder Class should be very proud of the thoughtful and respectful way they engaged with this activity. Well done! 🌟
