Maple Class have been exploring the striking work of artist Bridget Riley, focusing on her use of line, pattern and optical effects. Inspired by her artwork, the children investigated how different types of lines can be created by carefully controlling pressure and movement. Using a range of media, they experimented with light and heavy marks, smooth and broken lines, and varied directions. This hands-on approach encouraged creativity, observation and confidence, while helping pupils understand how artists use simple elements to create powerful visual effects.
