Maple

In Maple Class curiosity grows, imaginations soar, and every day is an adventure! Our youngest explorers in Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 begin their school journey here, guided by our fantastic teachers, Mrs Wenban and Mrs Trinder, and supported by the ever-enthusiastic teaching assistants, Mrs Sneddon-Wilkins and Miss Scrivens. Together, we’re a team ready to turn learning into something magical! We have two beautiful classrooms that enable us to provide EYFS with the creative and play based environment alongside the exciting one next door for year 1s and 2s. We are also lucky enough to have different outdoor areas for Maple Class: one set up with outdoor provision to support the learning of the week, a mud kitchen and a designated Forest School area.

In Maple Class, phonics and early reading aren’t just important - they’re a daily adventure! Whether we’re playing with sounds, guessing silly rhyming words, or diving into enchanting storybooks, children are surrounded by opportunities to fall in love with reading. With a sparkle of encouragement from our teachers, our young readers grow in confidence, devouring stories one page at a time. 

Maths in Maple Class is never boring. It’s hands-on, practical, and packed with fun! Whether we’re measuring mysterious treasures from our outdoor adventures or solving puzzles with our friends, maths becomes a part of our everyday play. Children count, build, and problem-solve, all while having a blast and discovering that numbers are everywhere. 

Our classrooms are happy, welcoming places where everyone is celebrated for who they are. We become scientists, artists, storytellers, and even outdoor explorers, with plenty of time to play and discover in our lovely school grounds. Each child’s ideas and questions are welcomed, and our supportive staff are always ready with a smile and a helping hand. 

Families are a big part of our Maple Class community. We love sharing our learning through regular updates, inviting grown-ups to join in on special events, and working together to make sure every child shines. There’s always something exciting happening, and we can’t wait to welcome you into our wonderful classroom world.
