Collective Worship
“It’s who you are and the way that you live that count before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That’s the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simple and honestly themselves before him in their worship. God is sheer being itself – Spirit. Those who worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration.”
John 4: 23 – 23 (The Message)
Our vision – to nurture faith; to inspire success – is the basis for our planning for worship throughout the school and across the year. Each worship, whilst based around one of the four strands of our vision, is always rooted in Christian teachings.
Each worship begins with music on entry and our school liturgy whilst lighting the candles. This is always led by the children.
This is the day that the Lord has made…Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
With our first candle we think of…God the Father;
With our second candle we think of…God the Son;
With our first candle we think of…God the Holy Spirit;
We also sing a hymn and read a prayer, often our school prayer (see opposite). Our school hymn is 'Lord Make Me A Mountain' which we sing regularly.
Each Monday, a member of our Worship group comes in to take worship with the whole school. They are members of our church community who take an active part in school life and include our vicars and youth minister.
We also regularly hold Collective Worship at St Kenelms Church to celebrate specific events in the Christian year, such as Harvest, Advent, Lent and Pentecost.
