Welcome to Beech class page where you find everything you want to know about our class.

This half term our topic is called ‘Once Upon a Time’ and we will be learning all about traditional fairy tales. We will be particularly focusing on stories that include giants and trolls within them! We will be focusing on the following stories:

  • - Jack and the Beanstalk
  • - Jim and the Beanstalk
  • - The Three Billy Goats Gruff
  • - The Smartest Giant in Town

The children will be having lots of fun writing and drawing pictures of what they would like to find at the top of the beanstalk. They will be recording their own plant diaries, as well as creating a “missing” poster for the troll and sending a “thank you” card to the giant.

There will be many opportunities for the children to get creative by designing their own magic beans and experimenting with colour. The children will be learning to sew, using what they have learnt to create patterns on a hessian leaf.

We will be exploring the world around us by looking at a range of bridges and creating our own maps, which will link to a variety of traditional tales. As part of this topic, they will become scientists by growing their own magic beans and learning about different types and parts of plants and trees.

In P.E this half term, we will be focusing on some exciting dance linked to winter and our topic ‘Once upon a time’ together with Maple class. Our Charanga music this term is learning all about the different styles of music and we will be learning a song called ‘In the groove’.

What an exciting half term it is going to be!
